Tablas Creek Vineyard is the result of a decades-long friendship between the Perrin family of Château de Beaucastel and Robert Haas, longtime importer and founder of Vineyard Brands. The families created a partnership in 1985 and in 1989 purchased a 120-acre property in the hilly Las Tablas district of west Paso Robles for its similarities to Châteauneuf du Pape: limestone soils, a favorable climate, and rugged terrain. The partners imported the traditional varietals grown on the Perrins’ celebrated estate, including Mourvèdre, Grenache Noir, Syrah, and Counoise for reds, and Roussanne, Viognier, Marsanne, and Grenache Blanc for whites.
We love these wines for their traditional "old world" refinement with "new world" fruit and ingenuity. Now we want to share them with you!
about the wine you will taste...
2015 Patelin de Tablas Blanc
"Patelin" is French for neighborhood, and that's exactly what these Patelin de Tablas wines represent. They're table wines, meant to be shared everyday with the friends and family around you. This white blend is based on the crisp acids and rich mouthfeel of Grenache Blanc, with Viognier added for floral, tropical aromatics, and small additions of Roussanne and Marsanne for structure.
2013 Esprit de Tablas Blanc
Born, literally, from the "esprit" (spirit) of old Château de Beaucastel in Châteaneuf-du-Pâpe, this wine is a blend of three estate-grown varietals, propagated from budwood cuttings from the Château de Beaucastel estate. Roussanne provides the core richness, minerality, and flavors of honey and spice, while Grenache Blanc adds green apple and anise flavors, a lush mouthfeel and bright acids. Picpoul Blanc completes the blend, adding a saline minerality and tropical notes.
2015 Patelin de Tablas Rosé
A rosé blend in the tradition of Provence, this wine is produced from four red Rhône varietals: Grenache, Mourvèdre, Counoise, and Syrah. Like most rosé wines from the Rhône Valley, it is based on the bright strawberrry fruit and fresh acidity of Grenache, with additions of deeper red fruit and structure from Mourvèdre and Counoise, and spice from Syrah.
2014 Patelin de Tablas Rouge
This blend incorporates fruit from several of the top Rhône vineyards in Paso Robles, each vineyard selected for its quality. Like many red wines from the Rhône Valley, it is based on the dark fruit, mineral and spice of Syrah, with the brightness and fresh acidity of Grenache, the structure and meatiness of Mourvèdre and a small addition of Counoise for complexity.
2013 Esprit de Tablas Rouge
Made of the same budwood cuttings from the Château de Beaucastel estate, this wine is based on the dark red fruit, earth, spice and mid-palate richness
of Mourvèdre, with additions of Grenache for forward fruit, approachability and lushness, Syrah for mineral, aromatics, and back-palate tannins,
and Counoise for brambly spice and acidity.
