Loire Valley - perhaps the most overlooked and under-appreciated wine region of France. A region whose vineyards were first planted by Romans, tended through the middle ages by Catholic monks, and populated by chateaux and the French aristocracy from the 15th to 17th centuries. Today, it is home to over 4,000 wineries producing a dizzying array of elegant wines from racy whites and refreshing rosés to reds that favor fruit over force, topped with sumptuous sweet and sparkling wines that even rival neighboring Champagne. Simply put, the Loire Valley has many reason to be nicknamed the "Garden of France."
about the wine you will taste...
2015 Domaine Serge Laporte "Les Boursicottes" Sancerre
Light gold in color with enticing notes of fruit cocktail, accentuated by a touch of flint and floral undertones. This wine is expressive, with a savory palate of fresh melon, fig, and citrus flavors. Its finish is pleasantly long with crisp acidity.
2014 Domaine Elisa Gueneau Sancerre Rouge
Ruby colored with garnet-red highlights with intense and complex aromas of black cherry and blackberry jam. On the palate you'll find fat, silky tannins. This wine offers everything in its notes of cherries in brandy, tobacco leaves, and nutmeg.
2014 Domaine de Montbenoit "Coteaux de Giennois" Pinot Noir
This bright, garnet colored wine has a typical nose with dark fruit and hints of spice. The freshness on entry to the palate is partnered by a velvety texture. Cherries, blackberries and blueberries develop to provide an excellent harmonious wine, with an uplifting touch of spice on the finish.
2014 Laurent Herlin "Bourgueil Terre d'Adoption" Cabernet Franc
Bright red fruit flavors are complemented by aromas of peony, soft spices, and blackberry leaf. A delicious smooth and velvety texture makes this wine a jovial and emphatic pleasure to drink.
2014 Le Rocher des Violettes "Touraine Côt" Vieilles Vignes Malbec
Lovely fruit on the nose. A wine that's not sweet or confected in any way, with all dark berries, fresh and pure. Similarly fresh style on the palate, light but appealing with an appropriate substance. What really entices is the beautifully perfumed character, floral elements. Nice ripe structure behind a rather fresh, acid-framed fruit palate.
